Welcome Aboard, Alex

The team NYA would like to extend a warm welcome to Alex, our newest Boat Broker! We’re very excited Alex has joined the team and look forward to seeing him advance his career in the boating sphere. We asked Alex some questions so you could get to know him a little better… From Alexs’ career aspirations, to a new found bromance, get the juice here…

What inspired you to pursue a career as a boat broker?

My career as a boat broker was inspired by my love of boating, sales experience, and the desire to help people find the right boat for their needs. I feel very lucky to be able to do what I love for a living.

What is your favourite aspect of being a boat broker?

I enjoy the satisfaction of helping people find their perfect boat, the challenge of closing deals and the opportunity to work with a wider range of boats. But, I have to say, my favourite aspect is working with Matt Sampson on a day-to-day basis!

Have you always had a passion for boats?

I have always had a passion for boats, inspired by my family who work within the industry, my dad being a manager at Trend Marine and my uncle being a builder at Haines Marine. I feel boating provides an exciting opportunity to spend time on the water, relax, and engage in activities such as fishing, swimming or simply enjoying the beautiful scenery. Plus, owning a boat can be a great way to socialise with friends and family.

What drew you to NYA?

NYA is the luxury yacht brokerage on the Norfolk Broads, a charter company with a reputation for excellence and well-respected name in the industry. They offered me an exciting chance to develop my existing skills and further my career in the industry. I had worked at another brokerage in the area so when I got the opportunity, it was a step up for me and an easy decision to make.

If you could go cruising anywhere in the world, where would it be?

There are many beautiful places to cruise in the world, but my personal preference would be cruising the Mediterranean. Although, I’d be equally happy cruising the Norfolk Broads on one of our luxury charter boats!

Do you have any golden advice for someone looking to buy their first boat?

When buying your first boat, it is worth considering how you intend to use it, what size will be suitable for you and your budget. It is also important to thoroughly research different makes and models, as well as having a survey done on the boat prior to purchase. But above all, my golden advice for somebody would be to make sure you purchase your boat from NYA! Why not take a look at our selection?
