Our fleet gathered at the Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club on Wednesday 15th June having made their way through Mutford Lock @ Oulton Broad. We met in the yacht club bar for drinks & a briefing from James regarding plans for the following days run to St Katharine’s Haven at Tower Bridge London. Afterwards we enjoyed an excellent BBQ laid on by the RNSYC. Then it was early to bed in readiness for an early start.
After a 0515hrs VHF Radio check, our fleet departed Lowestoft at 0530. The sunrise was beautiful and the sea flat calm. We had a very relaxed run down to the Thames and up the river to Tower Bridge. We started locking the fleet into the dock and by 1530 they were all in and ready for several days relaxation in this beautiful oasis in London.
Over the 5 days stay the crews did as they wished occasionally meeting up for meals & drinks or sightseeing visits, comedy club etc.
The weather was very kind to us, if not a little hot for some and the forecast for the return trip was excellent.
We locked out first thing on Tuesday 21st and had a great run back to Lowestoft.
