Work to transform the newly-named Langford Harbour on the Brundall Riverside Estate into first-class mooring for about a dozen boats continues apace.
With the dredging work to improve the mooring basins complete, seven-metre steel pilings with a steel quay heading are being installed by specialists Broadwurx.
This part of the project should be complete by the end of August.
Norfolk Yacht Agency (NYA) purchased the site, adjacent to its existing Windmill Harbour, in January and began work to remodel the moorings in April having received planning consent from the Broads Authority.
James Fraser, managing director of NYA, said the final stage in the project would be to landscape the surrounding area to provide “a pleasant green space for people to enjoy”.
“The whole area will be smartened up, and it will provide much-needed additional mooring space in for large boats in Brundall,” he added.
“In places the water was only 12 inches deep, so it’s been a big project but one we’re really looking forward seeing complete.”
The 1.5-acre site includes more than 10,000 square feet of workshops and office space, previously occupied by Alpha Craft and let in April to boatbuilders Vogue Marine.
The moorings were re-named Langford Harbour in honour of Langford Jillings (Snr), who developed and built more than 1,000 mouldings on the site over 40 years and made a major contribution to the boat hire business both locally and throughout Europe.
