NYA CRUISING CLUB – SOUTHWOLD September 2023
Our plans for a Woodbridge cruise were foiled by a poor forecast for the return leg so we hastily made arrangements for a Southwold run departing on Friday 22nd September and returning the following day before the wind got up!
The boats locked through Mutford and made their way to the RNSYC on Friday morning. We waited a few hours for the tide to rise at Southwold and departed at 1400hrs. The sun was shining and apart from a bit of surface chop the sea state was pleasant. We rafted together on the timber jetty outside the Harbour Inn and had a lovely afternoon socialising as the sun set over the River Blyth.
Sunday morning brought another fantastic September morning with plans made to leave at 1400hrs. A walk into town was the order of the day for most crews and a spot of breakfast and shopping. The sea state was just about perfect for the run back to Lowestoft at 18 knots.
We met for dinner and drinks in the evening at the RNSYC bar. Not the Woodbridge destination we had hoped for but Southwold was as lovely as ever and a good time was had by all.
