SEE YOU IN SOUTHAMPTON

We’ll be with the Haines Marine team at the Southampton Boat Show from 13-22 September. This will be the South Coast debut for the Haines 32 Sedan and an opportunity to see how well it compares with what the rest of the business has to offer.  If you have not yet seen this popular new boat, you’ll find us on the water at berth M120.

EXPERT OPINION

With Haines 32 Sedans in such demand, it’s been difficult for them to arrange a review of the boat.  However, we understand that Motor Boats Monthly have now been able to take a look and were favourably impressed.  Look out for Nick Burnham’s review in the October issue – out at the Southampton Boat Show.  The Haines Elegance has also come under a reviewer’s eye recently – watch this space.

TIDAL THAMES NAVIGATORS’ CLUB

Those who cruise regularly around the lower reaches of the Thames may be interested in this free club which aims to further improve the communication between the Port of London Authority and recreational boaters.
You will be able to register your boat for added security and receive tailored navigational information, free copies of Tide Tables and the Port Information Handbook and a copy of the PLA’s most current Recreational Users’ Guide for the tidal Thames posted to direct to your home.  See more at www.boatingonthethames.co.uk

CRUISING CLUB VISITS IPSWICH

Fifteen boats enjoyed a weekend cruise to Ipswich from 9-12th August.  Following an 8.30 am skippers’ briefing at Berney Arms, we were ready for a 9.30 bridge lift.  Poor weather saw us pull into Lowestoft Haven Marina to let things settle before a later than planned arrival at Ipswich. An excellent couple of days included a Saturday afternoon drinks party on Arabella and a Sunday visit to Woolverstone, before retuning via Gt Yarmouth on Monday.  If you like the idea of cruising with friends, see our Cruising Club pages.

CRUISERS DONATE TO CHARITY

At our May East Coast Cruise, Beryl Barker was persuaded by offers of wine and sponsorship to break her vow never to get into their recently acquired Rib.  Members raised £500 for the Childrens Hospital Charity which Beryl’s granddaughter Yasmin presented to Dr Muthana Al-Obaidi.
