All of us here at  Norfolk Yacht Agency would like to wish Sandra our very Best Wishes for a long and Happy Retirement.  Today will be her last day after 15 years working at the Horning Office.  A few of us went out for a meal to celebrate her retirement on Friday evening where Chris presented her with a lovely bouquet and an engraved crystal vase.  We did think about giving her a computer so she can carry on with her work from home too!

Last week saw the end of the NYA Cruising Club 2015 season and suffice to say we saw another year off with a bang!

A host of our cruising club members made their way on their boats, to Mutford Lock on Friday and Saturday bound for the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club where we celebrated another fantastic year of cruising.

On Saturday we kicked things off, in the comfort of one of our favourite Yacht Clubs, with the premier of our latest video showcasing the 2015 season of cruising. This was followed by 3 videos from members of their own experiences on the cruises to London and Holland.

We were treated to a sumptuous three course meal and most importantly some excellent company. Once everyone was fed and suitable watered it was on to the dance floor where some serious rugs were cut!

With a turnout of around 120 people it was a very well attended event and it’s safe to say that a great time was had by all. Our regular cruise members were of course in attendance but over the last year we have also seen some new faces join the ranks, in no small part due to our Novice Cruises which encourages newcomers to venture out to sea.

We are already busy planning our 2016 Cruising season so be sure to keep an eye on our website for regular updates.

A big thank you must go not only to all of our Cruising Club Members but also to the NYA staff who have worked tirelessly to make this year the best yet!

V8 Engine Option for Haines 32 Offshore

Following the recent launch of the new 2016 Haines 400 Aft Cabin model at the Southampton Boat Show, a craft fitted with twin Yanmar 8LV-370hp engines. Haines have again paired up with engine manufacturers Yanmar to offer a single V8 engine option in the popular Haines 32 offshore model.

"Light weight, at only 450kg, the new Yanmar 8LV is the lightest diesel engine in class and has the best power-to-weight ratio" Director Justin Haines explained. "These V8 engines are exceptionally smooth running and at tick over run at just 550 RPM, which means that slow speed handling is made easy, with the boat not going too fast at idle speed." he added.

Twin turbochargers cause the engine to reach maximum torque at just above 2000 rpm. A flat torque curve like this is ideal for strong throttle response in the mid range. Fuel consumption charts show the best fuel economy is reached at about 3000 RPM, your ideal point for cruising, but there is plenty more power there if needed.

"We were so impressed with these engines in our recently produced 400 model that it made perfect sense to offer it in other models in the Haines range." Justin further added.
