NYA STAVES OFF EAST COAST FLOODS

As we head further into autumn the weather continues to be unpredictable. A combination of high tides as well as the tail end of Hurricane Gonzalo reaching our shores, meant that the water levels along the east coast rose dramatically. On Wednesday morning we awoke to find much of Brundall under water, luckily we had expected this and so the night before had adjusted lines accordingly. Much of the day was spend re adjusting lines and fenders as the water levels rose and then eventually receded.

Thanks to the vigilance of the staff in both our Brundall and Horning offices and service centre we once again managed to avoid any damage. Water levels are now back to normal levels and the skies are relatively calm, making for some excellent cruising weather.

NYA CRUISING CLUB MARKS THE END OF ANOTHER FANTASTIC SEASON

Saturday the 11th of October saw many NYA customers make their way to the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club to celebrate the success of the 2014 cruising season. With over 100 boaters in attendance it proved to be a lively and hugely enjoyable evening. As well as a delicious 3 course meal, those in attendance were also treated to the premier of the Cruising Club promotional film. This was particularly special as a great number of the crews in attendance and their boats were featured in the film.

After dinner and speeches were completed we danced the night away. The following day, after a hearty breakfast, 24 boats then made the journey together back to Brundall with ‘Evita’ taking pride of place as cruise leader. This year has marked one of our best cruising seasons so far with countless friendships being made and solidified. All at NYA have been thrilled with the outcome of these excursions and would like to extend a big thank you to all who have made it such a success, nothing makes us more fulfilled than seeing boats being enjoyed and most importantly loved.

We can’t wait to see what 2015 brings!

END OF SEASON DINNER - OVER 100 BOOKED TO ATTEND

We have had a fantastic response to our End of Season dinner with over 100 tickets sold.  We have booked an 1130hrs bridge for the 20 boats that are eager to come along by sea! This will give us plenty of time and ensure we are all refreshed and ready for an evening of dancing and of course the eagerly anticipated screening of the new NYA Cruising Club Film.
The return bridge is booked for 1400hrs on Sunday to allow for a nice lazy morning in Lowestoft for those that need it!

PURCHASE OF PROPERTY & ASSETS AT FRESHWATER CRUISERS

We are pleased to announce the completion of our purchase of the property and assets of Freshwater Cruisers.  Tony and Carol Kirby who have run the yard for the past 21 years have now retired.  Their Son, Will is continuing with his Boat Safety, gas and engineering services and is now based at our Service Centre and operating as Freshwater Marine.
We will be undertaking a programme of improvements over the winter period including dregding and landscaping.  The property also has facilities for the sale of diesel and we intend to offer discounted diesel to our clients from the start of next season.
