MARTIN BROOM

We were very sad to learn of the death of Martin Broom at the age of 79.  Before his retirement, Martin led the family business for many years, bringing many innovations to a renowned name in boating.  He was a tireless contributor to many boating organisations and was awarded the MBE for services to the marine industry.

MOTOR BOATS MONTHLY LIKES THE HAINES 32 SEDAN

In their new issue for October, MBM publish their glowing review of the Haines 32 Sedan following a trial on the Norfolk Broads.  There was a lot that impressed them, particularly the attention to detail and the obvious build quality.  Their verdict started: “On every Haines cruiser is a small plaque naming the team who built it. This sums up the attention to detail and level of ‘ownership’ of the build on offer here”.
The full review praises the performance and handling and describes the boat as clearly: “ .. designed by people who go boating”.  With a growing order book, it’s clear that other people who go boating agree with MBM.  You can see the full review in the October issue or watch their video below

Keels on Wheels can be ordered online from www.boatsbyroad.com or found in bookshops, including Waterstones, and in our Brundall office.

TURNED OUT NICE AND BUSY

In April we carried a weather forecast from James. “ Sun, warmth, boating weather.  Any day now.” Well how right can you be?  With a fantastic summer - still in progress – many of us have been spending more time on the water and looking for new boats to enjoy.
The last two weeks of August have seen orders for four new Haines 32 Sedan models.  This spacious new river and estuary cruiser was well received at our recent event at Water’s Edge, Bramerton and has really taken the market by storm.  If you would like to be aboard one next summer, an early discussion with the factory would be a good idea.
